1 recipient will receive $250,000. This is a first-time earmark.
Year Enacted: 2005
Description: Hollins University was awarded a new grant under NNL05AA18G in the amount of $248K for a portal project to fully align with the NASA Office of Education mission "to inspire and motivate students to pursue careers in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics" and will help to address the nationwide shortage of women who elect to pursue such careers. Technology upgrades will enhance the basic infrastructure of the campus network. The improved technology network will support increased collaborative research efforts by students and faculty and provide the speed required for new instrumentation. The upgrades will provide the foundation for collaborative research experiences and science education opportunities for undergraduate and graduate students at the university. This proposal will strengthen the campus-wide technology infrastructure, which will enable the university to provide effective and reliable technology that will upgrade the science infrastructure and enhance teaching and learning at the university.
