Description: Drug Free America Foundation, Inc. (DFAF) launched a drug awareness campaign in 2001. Completed in late 2004, it centered on educating youth and parents, as well as other concerned individuals such as schoolteachers, representatives from the faith community, law enforcement officials, and drug prevention and treatment professionals about the harms of drugs. The proposed project allows DFAF to continue and expand its efforts. DFAF's goal is to reduce drug use, resulting in reducing gang activity, violence, truancy, high school dropout, HIV rates, and teenage pregnancy. Titled Drug Abuse: It Stops With You, the campaign will be 2-1/2 years in duration and includes the following performance objectives: 1)Extensive marketing, distribution and maintenance of all products developed in the 01-04 campaign; 2)Develop/disseminate a media campaign to raise awareness about the harms of drugs and permissive policies; 3)Maintain and expand the web site to educate about the harms of drugs and permissive drug policies; 4) Maintain and expand the resource libraries (physical and electronic); 5)Create a Communications Bureau to refute misinformation about drugs; 6)Publish a peer-reviewed online journal that examines global drug policy; and 7)Evaluate the effectiveness of all components of this awareness campaign.
