Description: The CORE Philadelphia Scholarship program¿s goals are based on youth having early awareness of financial resources to attend post secondary education. Providing financial resources beyond federal and state aid makes college affordable and as a result youth will attend; and with academic, programmatic and social supports youth will persist in college, thereby successfully completing a 2 or 4-year college degree. By providing academic supports, along with financial resources students will choose a college education as opposed to a life of delinquency and violence. The partnering CORE Philly colleges and universities, as well as the Federal and state financial aid agencies require applicants to use the Internet as a way of community and applying for financial aid to attend college, enabling the program to monitor the number of website hits to measure the success of information being retrieved. Also, by being a Philadelphia resident, students have the advantage to receive tuition assistance. Documentation of the success of this will be records of students academic progress.
