Description: The Bay Area Comprehensive Youth Violence Prevention Network will provide training and technical assistance for county, city and community based coalitions to reduce youth violence in San Francisco and Alameda Counties. The project's goal is to facilitate the development of a comprehensive, coordinated violence prevention plan in each county including an infrastructure for the sustainable implementation of the plans. The program's strategy includes convening county youth violence prevention networks that will implement regional violence prevention plans; designating two neighborhoods in San Francisco and Oakland for a place-based approach to violence prevention based on these plans; collecting and analyzing data on youth violence; evaluating current practices in youth violence prevention; training county network participants and their members in a wide variety of skills related to youth violence prevention. Performance measures will include evidence of improved strategic planning, coordination, and communication across county departments and a reduction of youth violence in targeted neighborhoods.
