Description: The National Crime Prevention Council's Teens, Crime, and the Community (TCC) educates young people across the nation about ways to make themselves and their families, friends, and communities safer from crime through crime prevention practices and projects. By combining effective crime prevention and sound pedagogy, TCC strengthens several protective factors against crime (e.g., positive peer relationships, good communication skills, and supportive adults) and supports development of empathy, responsible decision making, critical thinking, problem solving, and leadership and citizenship skills that also help protect against victimization and delinquency. In 2007, NCPC's work will focus on program operations and program outreach. The goals of TCC will address strengthening program implementation fidelity, updating management tools and evaluation for various activities, developing tailored training approaches for various audiences, and assessing customer needs and satisfaction. Program outreach will meet demands for TCC training, address the growing demand to help youth prevent personal property theft, identity theft, and cyberbullying. Technical assistance will help launch sites and support program fidelity. Performance measure and results will be measured via a variety of outcome-focused instruments and strategies.
