Description: The Western Kentucky University Spotlight Youth Project will operate in Warren County and will provide alternative school suspension programs (one for students in grades 1-5 and another for students in grades 6-12), an evening arts program for youths of ages 12-24, human services for families in need (including establishing a website), and leadership opportunities for Warren County youth. The goals of the program are to provide youth with constructive activities away from school and to give families a resource they can turn to in times of need. The Spotlight Youth Project will report on performance measures including the number of students referred to the alternative school suspension programs and the lowered rate of recidivism among participants, the number of youths participating in the arts and leadership programs, and the level of satisfaction as indicated by surveys of those utilizing the human services offerings.
