Description: The Iowa Mentor Center is a collaboration of mentoring programs throughout the state of Iowa dedicated to empowering youth through mentoring. This project will serve Iowa youth who live in areas that are underserved by mentoring or other proven prevention-based programs. The project will target at-risk students age 6-15 attending Iowa schools. Students will be matched with screened and trained adult mentors recruited from local communities. The project's goal is to serve 2150 youth by creating and maintaining one-to-one mentoring relationships. Program outcomes include improved confidence, competence and caring, as measured by twenty-one risk factors.
