Description: The Stark County Juvenile Court Effective Alternatives Project will provide increased court supervision of incarcerated youth who are at low or moderate risk for recidivism and/or failure to show up for trial. The increased supervision of low and moderate risk youth placed back into the community before their trial will serve as an alternative to incarceration. The goal of the program is to reduce reliance on detention without increasing recidivism rates or the number of offenders who fail to show up for trial. The Effect Alternatives Project will increase the number of offenders who are successfully released back into the community by 1) implementing a Risk Assessment Instrument for properly identifying low and moderate risk offenders; 2) improving and enlarging the Pre-Trial Release program; and 3) creating a Reentry Program for low-level felony offenders. The project will report performance measures that include rearrest data and the rate of failure to return to court.
