Description: Syracuse Middle Choice program will assign a Youth Advocate to provide intensive intervention and supervision to 40 City of Syracuse middle school students. The goal of the program will be to improve the student's school attendance, behavior and academic skills. The program will serve middle school students or students who have been placed in the district's alternative programs for disciplinary reasons. The program will accept referrals from school officials, law enforcement personnel, social service agencies and family members. The program will submit in GMS categorical progress reports that report on sixteen (16) performance measures that include improved school attendance, reduction in disciplinary referrals in alternative placements, reduced school suspensions and reduced arrests.
