Description: The Campaign for Achievement will provide a combination of in-school, after-school and weekend activities for 100 at-risk youth in Suffolk County, particularly in Central Islip and Wyandanch. Such activities will include tutoring, standardized test preparation, life skills workshops, educational/vocational preparation and career advisement. The Campaign will decrease rates of underachievement and gang affiliation by providing positive alternatives for at-risk youth. The Campaign will increase participants success in various academic subjects, increase participants acceptance rates into postsecondary institutions, and increase parental participation in the program. The success of the campaign will be measured through participant, parental and educational reports of academic achievement, as well as dropout statistics and enrollment rates in postsecondary educational institutions.
