Description: The purpose of the Police Athletic League (PAL) of New Jersey is to reduce juvenile crime and promote school performance by offering the program to local PAL chapter youth as an incentive for behavior, good grades, and other criteria to be determined. The PAL program will enable youth throughout the State of New Jersey to attend an equestrian-based youth ¿Camp PAL.¿ There are currently 70 local PAL chapters in New Jersey, each servicing a diverse racial, cultural, social, and economic population. PAL also plans to further the leadership skills of youth attendees, and instruct them in areas of good citizenship, peer leadership, responsibility, and teamwork. Attendance at Camp PAL will have a tier-based system over a 3-year program cycle. Of the youth participating in the program, 90% must demonstrate a better school attendance rate and a grade point average of 75% or better. The outcomes of these activities will increase school performance and reduce delinquent behavior.
