Description: The Grace Multi-Community Development Corp. will assess and reduce the problem of gang violence in Long Island, NY through parental/community awareness, early identification of at risk youth, and the availability of an after-school and weekend youth recreation and resource center. This program will target both parents and youth in 250 households, with participating youth falling between 9 and 18 years of age. This program will provide education to the public regarding the existence of gangs in their community, as well as identification and intervention services for households with at-risk children. After these children are identified, the program will provide a positive social outlet for them in the form of a youth-oriented community center. The program will measure its success through quarterly evaluations of each of the four program steps (education, identification, intervention and outreach).
