Description: The Community Outreach Center (COC) will provide positive after school programs aimed at reducing the number of at-risk factors and molding developing youth into accomplished, productive, emotionally self-sufficient, community minded adults. The COC project will serve 60 at-risk middle school students (ages 11-14) through the operation of an extended day after school program providing remedial academic assistance, mentoring, recreation, and full supper. Performance measures will include survey data of all participants to include but not limited to, age, gender, ethnic data, home language, employment status of parents, attendance; and outcome measures to calculate educational gain in student standardized local or state academic test scores and positive change in behaviors and attitudes.
