Description: This congressional earmark award supports the West Farms Technology Center. The Center, operated by the Phipps Community Development Corporation, provides educational program for underprivileged, at-risk, youth (13-18) in New York City. The program includes technology-based academic instruction, basic computer literacy and application training , and higher-level technical training. The program serves over 600 students annually, and includes minority group and immigrant youth. The goal is to prepare these young people for the labor market. Some staff training is also provided under the program.
