Description: The City of South Bend's goals are to reduce the influence of gangs and violent crime in the area. To accomplish this they will implement a street outreach worker program. Two outreach workers will work with 75 youth. The objectives are to have 30 participants complete high school, 30 to gain temporary employment, 15 to obtain permanent employment, 15 to successfully pass a GED program and 15 to enroll in Ivy Tech or vocational education. This program (a part of CeaseFire Southbend) will submit GMS categorical assistance progress reports on the progress of the performance measures related to the stated goals and objectives. To be measured are the participants' knowledge and awareness of conflict/resolution (nonviolent behavioral options) and employment/educational opportunities. Also to be tracked are the number of participants that achieve the stated objectives.
