Description: A recent study about domestic violence and family support programs states that Young children and their families should be able to receive early, strength-based interventions to help them avoid the harmful consequences of domestic violence and to reduce the likelihood of entry into the child protection and, ultimately juvenile court systems. Emerging developmental knowledge makes a strong case for targeting intentional supports, services, and specialized early interventions to young children and families experiencing multiple risk factors. For parents, this may mean not just attention to safety and basic needs, but help to repair or prevent damaged parent-child relationships and to promote positive parenting. Therefore, it is vitally important that children who witness domestic violence receive the necessary care and counseling to move on and lead productive lives. S.A.F.E. House's Counseling Center is positioned to address a variety of mental and developmental health needs within Southern Nevada Safe House Inc. will provide behavior management and counseling to children and youth who are impacted by domestic violence. Safe House Inc.'s counselors provide services on-site and within the agency's emergency shelter.
