Description: The City of Detroit will implement Operation Take Back to reduce the sale and use of narcotics within high crime areas. The goals and objectives of the project are to: 1) reduce recidivism in the criminal court system; 2) reduce open drug sales within the City; 3) increase the forfeiture of building structures used as habitats for drug sales and usage; and 4) increase the forfeiture of vehicles involved in the distribution of drugs. The narcotics section of the police department will work 12-hour shifts in areas designated as high intensity drug trafficking areas and will focus enforcement actions on violations of controlled substances; illegal entry into houses; possession of felony firearms; and carrying concealed weapons.
