Description: The Downtown Learning Center, located in Brooklyn, NY will operate a Youth Intervention Program servicing 450 at-risk youth ages 14-18. Activities provided include weekly gang-prevention sessions, operating an after school and summer drop-in center for youth, and services such as counseling, computer training, and recreation. The goal of the program is to improve the lives of area youth by reducing delinquency, improving academic performance, and preparing youth for productive adult lives. The Center will report on performance measures including reduced levels of gang membership, reduced levels of high-school dropouts, increased high school graduation and college attendance rates, improved computer literacy, and improved health of participants.
