Description: This FY05 earmark award will support the Morgan County Child Advocacy Center during its first year of operation. Implementation focus will include: 1) management and administration of the facility; 2) program development and implementation; 3) continuing funding for the Center; and 4) documentation of activities/statistical compilation. Services will be restricted to the child victim and non-offending family members. The services to be provided include: 1) crisis intervention and emotional support for victims and non-offending family members, 2) forensic interviewing of victims by an experienced investigator, 3) preservation of testimonial evidence for prosecution, 4) compilation of statistical data on child abuse, 5) provision of medical services to help child victims begin the healing process, offered on-site or through referral, 6) access to child protective services and counseling and 7) professional training and community education advocacy to effectively combat child abuse.
