Description: In FY 2006, the National Crime Prevention Council (NCPC) will initiate and concentrate activities under five broad areas: (1.) In order to enhance statewide crime prevention capacities, NCPC will deliver training and technical assistance to state crime prevention associations and the state agencies administering the Byrne formula funds. (2.) Develop communication vehicles, programs and partnerships to implement prevention strategies against information-age crimes, including identity theft. (3.) Assist communities in applying crime prevention principles and skills to community preparedness. (4.) Improve crime prevention knowledge and actions to improve the safety of children, youth and adults and their communities. (5.) Respond to the unmet crime prevention needs of underserved communities (including Native American, Latino, and newly arrived Americans) by the development and dissemination of crime prevention materials and services. (6.) Provide the organizational infrastructure to NCPC to carry out Goals 1 through 5, and increase the capacity and visibility of NCPC as the preeminent national crime prevention organization.
