Description: These funds to the University of Houston are to establish the Southwest Public Safety Technology Center (SWTC). The University of Houston (UH) will conduct research and engineering projects that it jointly identifies with NIJ in support of State and local law enforcement. This work will include evaluations and investigation of the feasibility of new in-car law enforcement vehicle technology and the safety of law enforcement vehicle operations. UH will also work closely with the Sheriff's Association of Texas to assist law enforcement in this region to address their technology needs.
