Description: The Commonwealth of Virginia, Department of Criminal Justice Services seeks to combat gang activity throughout Virginia with this funding. The Commonwealth will sub-grant the funding to thirty-two state and local entities for a variety of activities that are geared toward prevention, intelligence gathering, curriculum development, training, investigating gang activity and enforcement. Funding will be used in urban as well as rural areas to address the various gang problems outlined. Thirty-two Virginia organizations have submitted to DCJS concept papers that give a brief outline of the planned activities they think will be needed to address the problem.
