Description: In 2004 the Washington Association of Sheriffs and Police Chiefs (WASPC) received an earmark to begin the process of establishing a statewide public buildings mapping system. In 2005 the WASPC received another earmark and with these funds the organization will continue their efforts in developing a statewide building mapping information system. The goals of the project are to: (1) develop and implement a State-wide Mapping Information System that is in conformance with the standards and guidelines developed by WASPC; (2) identify the appropriate hardware platform for the installation of the State-wide Mapping Information System; (3) implement recommendations from the study that identified the available options for the system platform; and lastly (4) implement a demonstration project involving the mapping of public buildings. Upon completion, the WASPC is confident that public buildings in their area will no longer stand as potential targets for terrorist attacks.
