Description: The Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services (DCJS) submitted an application for $1,479,965 in Byrne Discretionary Grant funds earmarked for continuing support of Drug Treatment Court Programs in Virginia. Utilizing a blend of Byrne Discretionary Grant funds and state General Funds, the Commonwealth of Virginia will: (1) continue support of this alternative to incarceration by providing FY 2006 funding to the fourteen established drug treatment court programs; and (2) provide the Supreme Court with the resources necessary to provide administrative oversight of drug treatment court programs, including training and technical assistance to judges and drug court teams, and evaluations of Virginia's drug treatment courts, as mandated by law.
