Description: Since the inception of the Metropolitan Area Task Force (MATF) in 1989, the program's Law Enforcement and Intelligence objectives have remained constant. The primary Law Enforcement objective is to protect communities within the greater Washington, D.C. Metropolitan area from drug-related activity by targeting specific regions and types of drug trafficking organizations. The Intelligence Initiative works in conjunction with the Law Enforcement Initiative by providing analytical support to investigations through intelligence collection, financial analysis, and post-seizure document exploitation. The Arlington County Police Department manages the activities of the MATF. They will use the grant funds to support the efforts of the MATF Enforcement and Intelligence groups in Washington, D.C., Northern Virginia, and Southern Maryland.
