Description: The Vera Institute of Justice, through its State Sentencing and Corrections Program, proposes to help state policymakers and agencies to tackle problems, providing objective knowledge and strategic counsel that encourages better informed choices of safe, smart and cost effective reforms that work. Vera will gather state officials at national seminars to learn about promising strategies and develop appropriate responses to urgent criminal justice issues. Vera will extend the lessons of such meetings to the field through follow up publications. Vera will also provide on-site technical assistance to officials contemplating or undertaking reforms.
