Description: This earmark grant funding will support the Legal Intervention for Employment (LIFE) project. The project goal is to create a legal service delivery system that helps low-income individuals to overcome legal problems that affect their employment, their family support and their self-sufficiency. The project objectives are: (1) to represent clients in driver's license, child support, criminal background, and landlord/tenant problems that interfere with the client's ability to find or keep employment; (2) to create and strengthen a community infrastructure that integrates legal services into the employment and training services provided by other organizations; (3) to prepare a practice manual that can be used by others to replicate the project; and (4) to independently evaluate the success of project. The project will target individuals with incomes below 200% of the Federal Poverty Level in the Wisconsin counties of Brown, Marathon, Milwaukee, Portage and Wood.
