Description: The University of Louisville Research Foundation Incorporated will use the 2005 Congressional Earmark funds to implement and test the impact of the collaborative intervention model to prevent domestic violence and reduce the risk of injury to children. This model incorporates the aforementioned protective factors under control experimental conditions with families who demonstrate high levels of interparental aggression beyond the normal two-year post-divorce period of adjustment. The Participants will be 60 families (120 parents) who are referred by the Family Court for additional assistance through the Parents Achieving with Collaborative Teams (PACT) program. The evaluation of the PACT program will be a classic experimental, pretest-posttest control group design with random assignment. The experimental group will receive PACT and the active control group will receive assessment, linkage to community resources specific to their identified needs, including but not limited to mediation services. Although initial assessment and program participation will be mandated by family court judges based on detailed criteria, participation in the program evaluation will be completely voluntary. All participants in the program evaluation will first sign an informed consent form. Assent will be sought from children where age appropriate. Pre-test and Post-tests (at 6 months following program completion and at 1 year) will consist of several measures. These will be administered through a combination of face-to-face interviews and telephone interviews.
