Description: The purpose of the Rhode Island Mental Health Court Clinic is to provide rapid evaluations and appropriate treatment referrals to youth coming to the attention of the Rhode Island Family Court. The Family Court structure includes Truancy Court, Juvenile Drug Court, and Family Treatment Drug Court. The Mental Health Court Clinic will conduct full psychological assessments, but will also have the capability of conducting emergency forensic evaluations in situations of immediate need (e.g. determining a youth's risk of harm to self or others). The ultimate goal of the clinic is to remove juveniles from the court system and decrease the risk of future offending by providing access to early evaluation and treatment.
