Description: Utah Valley State College (UVSC) will develop a comprehensive Forensic Science Program to meet the needs of the forensic scientists working in the laboratory and law enforcement officers working in the field. UVSC will use the Congressionally Mandated award to purchase equipment, supplies, and minor renovations to support the Forensic Science Program. Potential benefits of the Forensic Science Program will be that (1) crime and medical examiner laboratories will have a steady supply of interns and potential new hires; (2) law enforcement agencies, at the local, county, state, and federal levels will have job applicants trained in the recent techniques and technologies; (3) local and country law enforcement will benefit from improved and more consistent training; and (4) commercial laboratories involved in manufacturing, quality control, regulatory issues, and licensure hire forensic chemists and may benefit from graduates of the Program.
