Description: The Fortune Society Inc. is expanding the provision of reentry services provided ex-prisoners returning to the five boroughs in New York City. The core reentry services include counseling, education and career development. They are continuing to focus on providing services to ex-prisoner clients (clients). They are conducting needs assessments for clients, identifying the crisis needs of clients, enrolling clients in basic education classes, enrolling clients in English for Speakers of Other Languages or Pre-GED class and providing basic computer education. The Fortune Society is also providing clients with a variety of trainings, referrals, career counseling, job placement, and support services. A line item in the FY 2005 Congressional Budget provides funding to The Fortune Society Inc. for the Ex-Prisoner Reentry Project.
