Description: Columbus Division of Police (CPD) will use this funding to continue to upgrade the Automated Fingerprint Identification System (AFIS) to electronically capture and store palm images. The implementation goals for the new system include: 1) replacing all live scan capture devices in all process areas with devices that capture palm prints; 2) adding live scan capture devices for two additional agencies to capture and send fingerprints and palm prints; 3) integrating with the CPD local area network to reduce redundant entry when identification is made from a remote location; 4) converting the known inked palm prints into a database at CPD for palm latent identification; 5) reducing officers¿ prisoner-processing time at the Identification Section; 6) and preserving all fingerprints and palm prints with the arrest data for each arrest electronically.
