Description: The grant funds will be used to support activities of the Agricultural Crime Technology Information and Operations Network (ACTION) Project amd the San Joaquin Rural Crime Prevention Program (SJRCPP). The goal of ACTION and SJRCPP is develop alternative ways through the use of technology to combat agricultural crime. ACTION and SJRCPP constitute a six-prong approach to addressing the issue of agricultural crime. The six components are: (1) a regional vision and structure, (2) technology, (3) information sharing, (4) prosecution, (5) education, and (6) evaluation. SJRCPP will also establish and coordinate training and practice drills that focus on bio-terrorist attack scenarios. Through SJRCPP sponsored trainings and drills, the agricultural community and industry and law enforcement will be better prepared to deal with bio-terrorism attacks. The SJRCPP Program will also serve as the agricultural homeland defense arm, working directly with the agricultural community network, local law enforcement agencies, federal law enforcement agencies and the military.
