Description: The National Night Out crime, violence and drug prevention project is a grassroots initiative which empowers citizens to take action against crime. By involving thousands of communities from every section of the nation, the National Night Out program reinforces the urgency to mobilize against crime, drugs and violence. Additionally, this project provides families, community organizations, citizens and local law enforcement agencies with an opportunity to express solidarity against crime and celebrate existing and newly formed crime and drug prevention programs and partnerships. This grant will support the 2005 National Night Out by providing informational materials, technical assistance, and coordination to more than 10,000 communities to enhance the development of police-community partnerships and innovative community-based programs with the goal of reducing crime.
