Description: The purpose of this grant is to bridge the information technology gap between rural and urban law enforcement agencies. The gaps in information technology in rural law enforcement agencies will be eliminated in a three phase approach. Elimination of the computer communication and criminal data gap will increase rural law enforcement's ability to fight crime. The needs identified are: (1) basic IT infrastructure continuity of operations; (2) automated finger print identification system (AFIS) access; and (3) crime records sharing among rural jurisdictions, and with Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS).
