Description: Swope Community Builders (SCB) incorporated the Community Safety Initiative (CSI) into the organization's Community Relations Department activities. Their mission is to build formal, long-term partnerships between police departments, community economic development corporations and other key stakeholders in troubled neighborhoods to reduce persistent crime, disorder and fear and to revitalize the neighborhood. The projects in which SCB involves itself in are based on the partnership, strategic but pragmatic problem solving, community control, community building and community empowerment.
