Description: This project has two major goals: (1) to assist the State in maintaining and strengthening the 11 existing and developing therapeutic courts, and (2) to develop ongoing non-governmental support for therapeutic courts throughout the State of Alaska. Specifically, grant funds will be used to strengthen the Family Care Court, a civil court that focuses on Children in Need of Supervision cases and helps parents overcome alcohol and drug addictions as a condition to retaining their parental rights. In addition, Partners for Progress will support existing courts by providing information and training and by establishing approximately 50 new Oxford Houses, including one or more in each community where there is a therapeutic court.
