Description: The Pinellas County Sheriff's Office has implemented a specialized unit dedicated to the management, community notification, and regularly scheduled in-the-field follow-up of sexual offenders and predators in Pinellas County. Pinellas County is Florida's most densely populated county and they currently have 1,176 registered sexual offenders and predators. The Sheriff's Office Sexual Predator/Offender Tracking (SPOT) Unit provides community notification and in-person follow-up of the offenders and predators residing in their jurisdiction. The Unit is comprised of a Corporal, five Deputies, and a part-time clerk. With funds from this grant, Pinellas County Sheriff's office plans to continue its service to the cities of Clearwater, Largo, and Tarpon Springs for an additional 18 months.
