Description: The University of Mississippi is continuing to provide standardized, high-quality training to the Mississippi Law Enforcement Community through the TechLaw Project. TechLaw is a real-time interactive video training program designed specifically for the law enforcement community. It is an innovative approach to providing up-to-date information and training in a cost-effective and accessible manner for law enforcement officers in Mississippi. By using compressed digital interactive technology to deliver standardized, top-quality instruction, Mississippi's law enforcement organizations can overcome three major obstacles impeding training: (1) limited availability of professional expertise, (2) inefficient and costly duplication of programs, and (3) access to training for all law enforcement officers. During the second phase of the TechLaw Project, the University of Mississippi is continuing to provide training on subject matters, such as the identification and investigation to protect critical infrastructure facilities, vulnerability of ports and navigable waterways, and techniques for drug interdiction. A line item in the FY 2005 Congressional budget provides continuation funding for the TechLaw Project.
