Description: The City of Yonkers will use $197,329 in funding for training and equipment for the Westchester County Special Operations Task Force. Personnel from nine fire departments in the County, organized into 6 squads will be trained for confined space rescue, high angle rescue, and trench and building collapse. The funds are made available through the Edward Byrne Memorial State and Local Law Enforcement Assistance Discretionary Grants Program. One trailer will be purchased, equipped and located in the Greenville Fire District (Squad 6) centrally located in Southern Westchester County. The trailer will be set up to allow for rapid response to technical rescue incidents, and readily available on a rotating basis for training among the other squads.
