Description: The Criminal Justice Program at MidAmerica Nazarene University is working to address the nationwide shortage of forensic science expertise with a new initiative to train undergraduate students in forensic sciences. As criminal investigation has become more technologically advanced, the use of instruments for research and routine analysis has skyrocketed. State-of-the-art instrumentation is no longer optional, but is a requirement for quality education in investigative analysis. MidAmerica Nazarene University is enhancing its science and criminal justice departments through the purchase of professional equipment and investigative materials and supplies utilized in actual crime investigation laboratories. Undergraduate students are being introduced to the procedures and techniques necessary to conduct crime investigations and gain hands-on experience with the various pieces of equipment they will use in the professional setting, including the utilization of a fully equipped mobile crime lab that will enable them to actively participate with local police agencies in actual crime scene evidence collection and evaluation.
