Description: The Opening Word Program, Inc. will use $98,664 to partially fund staff salaries to continue comprehensive services at the Community Service Center of Wyandanch for approximately 800 local families annually. The funds are made available through the FY 2005 Edward Byrne Memorial State and Local Law Enforcement Assistance Discretionary Grants Program. A literacy teacher and an English as a Second Language teacher will provide local women with education and job readiness training; the Director position of the Gerald Ryan Outreach Center will be partially funded to provide emergency food, clothing and prescriptions and to run the summer camp program; and the Development Director position of the Wyandanch Homes and Properties Development Corporation will be partially funded to assist families with housing.
