Description: The Citizens for NYC will use $98,664 in funds to subcontract to six community-based organizations to identify and implement community anti-crime activities in coordination with the Police Department and other criminal justice agencies. Funds are made available through the Edward Byrne Memorial State and Local Law Enforcement Assistance Discretionary Grant Program. The six community groups are located in Queens (one), and the Bronx (five) with each receiving a contract for $14,000. The sponsored activities will include volunteer recruitment, community patrols, graffiti eradication, and lighting and surveillance camera installation. The Citizens for NYC will provide each group with technical assistance and training as well as partnership coordination with the police precincts, District Attorney's Office, National Crime Prevention Council, tenant associations, schools, businesses and others.
