Description: The Wisconsin Coalition Against Domestic Violence (WCADV) will use the grant funds for two major areas related to domestic violence homicide prevention: 1) annual analysis of Wisconsin domestic homicides for the purpose of providing comprehensive technical assistance to communities and professionals that will improve their capacity to identify common variables and prevent domestic homicides, including recommendations for addressing domestic homicide among older adults, and 2) Increase safety for domestic violence victims and their children, including identification of interventions that may prevent homicide. WCADV staff will research domestic violence homicide data gathered from WI Office of Justice Assistance (OJA) Uniform Crime Reports (UCRs), law enforcement reports, criminal complaints, coroner/medical examiner reports, prosecution and media resources throughout the state. The Medical College of Wisconsin, Firearm Injury Prevention Center, will partner with WCADV in an advisory capacity, assisting in analysis of aggregate data and multi-year analysis. Results of the research and analysis of the domestic violence homicide data will be published in the WCADV Domestic Violence Homicide Report.
