To improve the functioning of the criminal justice system and enforce state and local laws - Xenia, OH.

1 recipient will receive $99,000. This is a continuing earmark.
Year Enacted: 2005
Code: 35
Description: The Internet is more available to children today than it was ten years ago, greatly increasing their chances of being sexually exploited. As sexual predators attempt to prey on children via the Internet, parents have become increasingly aware of the need to monitor their children's online activities but lack the skills necessary to do so. While Internet investigations are an important role of law enforcement, educating parents and children could prove to be a more effective method in reducing the numbers of Internet related offenses involving the sexual exploitation of children. The project's primary activity will focus on intervention through education. The project will offer community seminars for parents and separate seminars for children. The project seeks to conduct two to six seminars monthly over an 18 month period. The project's secondary goal will be to assist other agencies starting Internet units. Progress will be measured by the number of parents and children served, the number of communities served, the number of other agencies assisted, and the geographic scope of activities.
