Description: Grant Recipient-1: The City of Martinsville will use the 2005 Congressionally Mandated funds to upgrade their control room to allow the control room operator to monitor cameras, use intercoms, and lock and unlock doors by a integrated digital system. The upgrade will allow them to digitally record all activities that take place in the jail, as well as the exterior area surrounding the jail facility. Grant Recipient-2: Appomattox County is a rural county in south-central Virginia. Appomattox County will use the 2005 Congressionally Mandated funds to: purchase a self contained video unit (PDVR) for placement on an informant; and, secure an outdoor self-contained video unit (Guardian 2000) for surveillance and evidence gathering purposes.
