Description: The New Hampshire Department of Public Safety, State Fire Marshal's Office is purchasing a pre-fab storage container for the storage of evidence secured during the investigation of a fire. The proper storage and preservation of evidence is critical to the credibility of the evidence as presented during a trial. The new container ensures that evidence will be stored in an environment conducive to preserving the integrity of such evidence and that the chain of evidence will not be compromised. It is important that once evidence is collected it is not tampered with, stolen or destroyed; therefore, the container is being equipped with a security system to include motion detectors and door switches. A line item in the FY 2005 congressional budget provides funding to the New Hampshire Department of Public Safety for the Secure Evidence Storage Building Project.
