Citation Excerpt: Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2005: Provided, That $17,000,000 shall be available to carry out section 2151(c) of the ESEA, of which not less than $10,000,000 shall be provided to the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards, and not less than $7,000,000 shall be provided to the American Board for the Certification of Teacher Excellence: P.L. 107-110, Elementary and Secondary Education Act of 1965, Title II Part A Subpart 5 Sec 2151(c) -- (c) ADVANCED CERTIFICATION OR ADVANCED CREDENTIALING. (1) IN GENERAL. The Secretary is authorized to support activities to encourage and support teachers seeking advanced certification or advanced credentialing through high quality professional teacher enhancement programs designed to improve teaching and learning. (2) IMPLEMENTATION. In carrying out paragraph (1), the Secretary shall make grants to eligible entities to'(A) develop teacher standards that include measures tied to increased student academic achievement; and (B) promote outreach, teacher recruitment, teacher subsidy, or teacher support programs, related to teacher certification or credentialing by the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards, the National Council on Teacher Quality, or other nationally recognized certification or credentialing organizations. (c) ADVANCED CERTIFICATION OR ADVANCED CREDENTIALING. (1) IN GENERAL. The Secretary is authorized to support activities to encourage and support teachers seeking advanced certification or advanced credentialing through high quality professional teacher enhancement programs designed to improve teaching and learning.
