Description: The Alzheimer's Association South Central Wisconsin Chapter will develop a 15-hour "Dementia Specialist" training curriculum to be offered to direct care facility staff around the state of Wisconsin. Each of the three Alzheimer's Association chapters in the state will offer this training at least twice a month. The comprehensive curriculum will address the most important issues related to dementia care and will be designed to be practice-based using experiential exercises, interactive activities, media, and dialogue to help gain the knowledge and practical skills necessary to provide compassionate, person-centered care. The overall goal is to improve the quality of dementia care provided by long-term facilities throughout Wisconsin.
