Description: The grantee will assist the local Area Agencies on Aging (AAA) health insurance information coordinators to develop local coalitions with local partners to recruit trainers and counselors to inform seniors about the benefits of the new Medicare program and how to obtain prescription drug coverage. This grant will provide for one staff person to inform and educate beneficiaries and their families about Medicare Part D. Much of the training and resource building will be accomplished utilizing computers and accessing various websites. Activities will be conducted in local communities to offer assistance to beneficiaries and their families to help them make the best choice possible concerning the Part D benefit. Coalitions will be organized to identify strategies to ensure that all beneficiaries are aware of this program.
